Guangxi Sugar Cane Crushing Progress Slows: Only 17 Mills Completed Crushing by March 18

According to the latest statistics from PanSugar Technology, as of March 18, 2024, a total of 17 sugar mills in Guangxi have completed their sugar cane crushing operations for the 2025/26 season. This figure represents a significant decrease compared to the same period last year, when 67 mills had finished crushing, marking a reduction of 50 mills this year. From a capacity perspective, the combined daily crushing capacity of the mills that have completed operations currently stands at 163,500 tons. This is a substantial reduction of 385,000 tons per day compared to the previous year, and it includes seven large-scale mills with a daily crushing capacity exceeding 10,000 tons. This indicates a considerable contraction not only in the number of mills completing crushing but also in the overall processing capacity that has finished its season. Geographically, the mills that have completed crushing are predominantly located in the southern regions of Guangxi, including areas like Laibin. In contrast, the crushing progress in the northern parts of Guangxi remains relatively slow, lagging behind the overall pace. Preliminary insights suggest that due to an increased supply of sugar cane this season, some mills are expected to extend their production cycles, potentially continuing crushing until late April or even early May to finalize their operations.
