Laibin City Mechanization Field Meeting Highlights Boxuan Sugarcane Zone: Thousand Mu of Eucalyptus Land Transforms into 'Sweet Gardens'
On March 19, Laibin City hosted an agricultural mechanization field meeting in the Boxuan Company sugarcane zone, showcasing 1,000 mu of fully mechanized sugarcane operations. The event aimed to promote the 'eucalyptus-to-sugarcane' initiative, efficiently transforming former eucalyptus plantations into high-yield sugarcane fields through advanced agricultural machinery and integrated water-fertilizer management. This initiative supports farmers' income growth and contributes to the stable supply of sugarcane for the city.
On March 19, the Laibin City Agricultural Mechanization Field Meeting was successfully held at Gaoling Village, Siling Town, within the Boxuan Company's sugarcane zone. Leaders from the Laibin City Agricultural Mechanization Service Center and various county (city, district) agricultural machinery centers gathered to observe the demonstration of 1,000 mu of fully mechanized sugarcane operations. The head of Boxuan Company's agricultural department accompanied the attendees throughout the event.
At the high-yield sugarcane demonstration base in Gaoling Village, the roar of machinery filled the air as multiple high-horsepower tractors efficiently carried out land clearing and plowing for preparation. Following closely, sugarcane planters demonstrated their integrated operational capabilities, completing multiple processes—including furrowing, planting, fertilizing, covering with soil, mulching, and pest control—in a single pass, ensuring a smooth and highly efficient workflow. Within minutes, rows of straight sugarcane ridges extended across the fields, rapidly transforming the former eucalyptus plantations into vibrant 'sweet gardens.'
Chen Qiaocong, Mayor of Siling Town, explained that this base is a critical area for advancing the 'eucalyptus-to-sugarcane' strategy. Land consolidation was carried out according to 'dual-high' standards, enabling unified cultivation and management. The Bosheng Agricultural Machinery Cooperative provides full mechanization services for the base, utilizing virus-free 'Guitang 44' double-bud sugarcane seedlings supplied by Guangxi Agricultural Investment Guisheng Company. Additionally, a comprehensive integrated water-fertilizer management system has been implemented, ensuring a perfect combination of mechanized operations and precise water and fertilizer supply from planting to daily maintenance. It is anticipated that after planting is completed by the end of March, these lands will be distributed to farmers.
Visitors walked through the fields, carefully observing the effects of the mechanized operations and inquiring in detail about sugarcane variety characteristics, agricultural machinery service models, and water-fertilizer integration. An attendee from the Xingbin District Agricultural Machinery Center highly praised the demonstration, stating, "The seamless integration of full mechanization and the integrated water-fertilizer system not only achieves high efficiency and high standards but also fully demonstrates the 'main force' role of combining agricultural machinery with agronomy in modern agriculture."
Sugarcane farmer Qin Ximei stood beside her plot, her face beaming with joy. She remarked, "In the past, planting eucalyptus made the land increasingly barren, and incomes were not high. Now, the government is guiding us to replace eucalyptus with sugarcane. Boxuan Company and the agricultural machinery cooperative not only provide seeds and fertilizers but also handle all mechanized operations, even providing an integrated water-fertilizer system. We hardly have to worry about anything; we just wait for a good harvest this year!"
The head of Boxuan Company's agricultural department stated that the company would leverage this field meeting to further strengthen agricultural material guarantees, technical guidance, and follow-up services. They are fully committed to achieving the goal of expanding sugarcane planting by 10,000 mu by 2026. Their aim is to transform more 'eucalyptus-cleared lands' into 'wealth-generating fields' for sugarcane farmers, contributing Boxuan's active strength to the stable production and supply of sugarcane in Laibin City.
