Liubei District Sugarcane Spring Plowing Demonstration Highlights 'Black Tech' Empowerment for High-Quality Industry Development

Liubei District in Liuzhou recently hosted a sugarcane spring plowing demonstration, showcasing advanced cultivation techniques like deep tillage, mulching, and wide-narrow row planting, alongside modern agricultural equipment such as drone plant protection. The meeting emphasized preventing land abandonment, controlling non-grain cultivation, enhancing mechanization, and optimizing agricultural input, water, and disaster prevention guarantees, injecting strong momentum into the district's sugarcane industry.

As spring returns and nature awakens, it is a crucial period for spring plowing. To seize the prime season for sugarcane spring cultivation and ensure effective implementation of 2026 spring production, thereby boosting agricultural output and farmer incomes, Liubei District in Liuzhou recently hosted the 2026 Sugarcane Spring Plowing Demonstration at the Guling Village sugarcane planting base in Shatang Town. Zhong Qinglin, Member of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee and Director of the District Party Committee Office, along with He Jie, Deputy Head of the District People's Government, attended the meeting. The demonstration was rich in content and highly technological. Participants not only delved into the core aspects of Liubei District's 'Five Modernizations' and 'Eight Technologies' for sugarcane promotion but also observed advanced cultivation techniques firsthand, such as deep tillage, mulching, and wide-narrow row planting. Furthermore, on-site demonstrations of modern agricultural equipment, including drone plant protection, allowed attendees to directly experience the powerful impact of technology on sugarcane production and immerse themselves in the efficiency and convenience of modern agriculture. The meeting outlined key tasks for this year's sugarcane spring production: First, it is imperative to focus on targets, resolutely prevent farmland abandonment, strictly control the 'non-grain' conversion of cultivated land, and continuously strive to stabilize planting areas and increase per-unit yield. Second, it is crucial to leverage the key juncture of Guangxi's three-year action plan to enhance mechanized sugarcane harvesting, fully overcome bottlenecks in mechanization and technological advancement, and comprehensively improve the overall mechanization level of cultivation, planting, and harvesting. Third, comprehensive planning is needed for agricultural input supply, water resource guarantees, and disaster prevention and mitigation, optimizing services, tackling challenges, and firmly upholding the bottom line of production safety. It is reported that in recent years, Liubei District has steadfastly promoted the strategy of 'eucalyptus withdrawal, sugarcane advancement,' continuously increasing policy support, vigorously promoting improved varieties and advanced cultivation methods, and accelerating the improvement of mechanized operation levels. This has led to a sustained positive development trend in the district's sugarcane industry. In 2025, the district's sugarcane planting area reached 20,300 mu, a year-on-year increase of 42.96%. The crushing volume for the 2025/26 crushing season exceeded 100,000 tons, setting a new five-year high and laying a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the district's agriculture.
