Guilherme Nolasco Steps Down as UNEM Executive President

The National Union of Corn Ethanol (UNEM) announced in a statement last Friday, October 27, that Guilherme Nolasco will step down from his position as Executive President of the entity starting this Tuesday, October 31. He had held the role since October 2019. UNEM stated that "during his tenure, Nolasco implemented a solid strategic plan focused on institutional strengthening, expanding the membership base, nationalizing the entity, and opening up international markets." The union has not yet announced his successor. The statement also recalled that, under Nolasco's leadership, the entity participated in establishing the foundations for official sector data collection, in a joint effort with the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea). UNEM further added, "Through its institutional actions, UNEM defended the interests of its members with federal and state governments, especially in the construction of public policies to ensure legal security and attractiveness for investments." UNEM also acknowledged Nolasco's efforts to integrate the sector and the entity into various relevant forums, such as the Sugar and Alcohol Sector Chamber, the Corn and Sorghum Sector Chamber, and the Agrocarbon Sector Chamber, all coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa). He also participated in the creation and coordination of the bioenergy committee of the Pensar Agro Institute, served on the board of Bioenergia Brasil, and contributed to other entities.
