The event engaged the public through historical dialogues, interactive experiences, and scientific explanations, aiming to demystify sugar. On March 25th, the China Sugar Association successfully launched a unique public education and awareness campaign on sugar at the 114th National Sugar & Wine Fair. This initiative centered around 'dialogues across time, interactive experiences, and scientific interpretations,' aiming to guide a broad audience in understanding sugar knowledge and unlocking the scientific and cultural 'sweet codes' hidden in daily life.
At the event, the 'Ancient and Modern Sugar Production Map' drew significant attention, displaying traditional sugar-making methods like the ancient yellow mud leaching process on one side, and modern sugar production flows on the other. This vividly illustrated the evolution of sugar from farm to table. Furthermore, the 'Millennium Scroll of Sugar' attracted numerous visitors, detailing the historical breakthroughs in China's sugar industry from ancient maltose and Tang Dynasty 'sugar frost' production to modern industrialization. This not only showcased the journey of sugar becoming 'sweeter' but also highlighted the cross-millennium cultural exchanges and technological innovations behind it.
During the interactive sessions, the 'Sugar Knowledge Challenge' engaged a large number of participants through fun quizzes, debunking myths, and riddle guessing. In the 'Sugar Category Q&A' area, participants learned about various types of sugar, such as white sugar, brown sugar, and rock sugar, in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The 'Sugar Truths Revealed' section provided scientific answers to popular topics like 'sugar consumption and diabetes' and 'alternative sweeteners and health.' Additionally, cartoon characters based on sugarcane and sugar beet became popular photo spots, much loved by the audience.
Beyond the rich offline activities, online releases of animated videos titled 'Modern and Contemporary History of China's Sugar Industry' and 'Legend of Sugar Frost' complemented the previously released 'Ancient History of China's Sugar Industry,' forming a comprehensive series on the development of China's sugar industry. These videos not only help the public better understand the history of sugar and establish scientific consumption habits but also raise awareness for the inheritance and innovation of traditional craftsmanship, injecting profound cultural impetus into the high-quality development of China's sugar industry.
