Tapurah (MT) Ethanol Plant Secures R$1 Billion Financing from BNDES

RRP Energia, an ethanol plant located in Tapurah, Mato Grosso, which is authorized to operate from October 2025, has successfully secured R$1 billion in financing from the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES). According to information obtained by the Folha de São Paulo newspaper, this amount represents over 60% of the total investment planned by the Piccini group, the company responsible for the corn ethanol facility. Upon completion, the plant is expected to achieve an annual production capacity of 459 million liters of hydrated ethanol or 452 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, processing 1 million tons of corn. Previously released figures indicated a current potential capacity of 174 million liters per year. The funding, as investigated by Folha, originates from the Fundo Clima (Climate Fund), dedicated to projects reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and the BNDES Finem line, which supports large-scale investments with long-term credit. Construction of the plant commenced in the first quarter of 2024. The company initially announced plans to inaugurate the second phase of the project in June 2026, which would nearly triple its current processing capacity to 3,000 tons of corn per day. RRP Energia stated that "This initiative aligns with the objectives of the national biofuel policy and the New Brazil Industry program, contributing to the biofuel supply chains for energy transition and decarbonization, avoiding the emission of 309,000 tons of greenhouse gases."
