Jaraguari, MS to Get New Corn Ethanol Plant with R$300 Million Investment

Jaraguari, Mato Grosso do Sul, is poised for a significant industrial boost with the establishment of a new corn ethanol plant. The Pioneiras starch ethanol plant project represents an estimated investment of R$300 million. It is projected to have the capacity to process 500 tons of corn or sorghum daily, producing up to 200 million liters of ethanol annually. This initiative marks a crucial step for the municipality in bio-fuel production, especially after a previous similar project failed to materialize, making this new endeavor highly anticipated. While the plant is not yet listed in the monitoring system of the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), its construction process has officially commenced. Jaime Verruck, Secretary of Environment, Development, Science, Technology and Innovation for Mato Grosso do Sul, along with André Borges, President Director of the Mato Grosso do Sul Environmental Institute (Imasul), officially handed over the installation license to entrepreneur Egnomar Freitas Tiago this Monday, the 30th. Jaraguari Mayor Cláudio Ferreira da Silva (PSDB-MS) expressed gratitude for Secretary Jaime Verruck's dedication in attracting this investment and Imasul's efficiency in analyzing and issuing the environmental license. The Mayor also conveyed his confidence that this venture would foster the municipality's development, recalling that the state had previously supported the establishment of the municipal industrial hub and presented a project for access road paving. Secretary Verruck, in turn, stated that he would convey the municipality's requests to Governor Eduardo Riedel (PP-MS) and extended a warm welcome to the new project.
