Guangxi's 2025/26 Crushing Season Update: Over 60% of Sugar Mills Cease Operations, Liuzhou Sees First Closure

According to the latest data from Pan-Sugar Technology, significant progress has been made in the 2025/26 crushing season for sugar mills in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. As of April 1, 2024, three additional sugar mills in Guangxi completed their crushing operations, bringing the total number of closed mills for this season to 43, which is nearly 60% of the total mills in the region. In terms of capacity, the combined daily sugarcane crushing capacity of the mills that have ceased operations stands at 388,500 tons. This represents a year-on-year decrease of 208,500 tons compared to the same period last year, indicating potential adjustments in production structure and efficiency for the current season. Notably, the majority of these closed mills extended their operating periods. Specifically, 28 mills extended their operations by 1 to 20 days, while another 14 mills operated for more than 20 days longer than usual. Only one mill experienced a slight reduction in its operating time, reflecting the flexible adjustments made to production cycles this season. Geographically, crushing operations have been fully completed in several areas. All sugar mills in regions such as Qinzhou, Beihai, and Fangchenggang have now ceased operations. Furthermore, the first sugar mill in the Liuzhou region officially concluded its crushing season on April 1st, signaling the approaching end of the season for that area.
