Yunnan Province 2025/26 Crushing Season: Sugar Production Reaches 2.1344 Million Tons by March End

Yunnan Province has recently released its sugar production figures for the 2025/26 crushing season. The season commenced on October 30, 2025, with Yingmao Mengpeng Sugar Factory leading the start, a day later than the previous season. As of March 31, 2026, only one sugar factory in the province had completed its crushing operations, compared to nine factories at the same time last year. The data indicates that by March 31, 2026, Yunnan Province had processed a total of 16.6118 million tons of sugarcane, an increase from 15.3589 million tons during the same period in the previous season. Cumulative sugar production reached 2.1344 million tons, surpassing the 2.0088 million tons produced in the prior season's corresponding period. However, the sugar yield for this season stood at 12.85%, a slight decrease from the 13.08% recorded last season. Additionally, alcohol production for the period was 27,700 tons, up from 23,000 tons year-on-year. Regarding sales, as of March 31, 2026, Yunnan Province's cumulative sugar sales amounted to 1.0461 million tons, marginally higher than the 1.0364 million tons sold in the previous year. The sales rate was 49.02%, which is lower than the 51.59% observed last year. Notably, March alone saw sugar production of 641,000 tons, an increase of 32,500 tons year-on-year, and sugar sales of 348,600 tons, up by 34,700 tons. By the end of March, industrial sugar inventory reached 1.0882 million tons, an increase of 115,900 tons from 972,300 tons in the previous year. Alcohol sales also rose to 26,800 tons, compared to 21,400 tons last year.
