A truck carrying 30 tons of Vietnamese sugarcane cleared customs in just 20 minutes. This successful clearance opens a new import channel at Dongzhong Port, providing a stable raw material supply for local sugar refineries and significantly contributing to the stable development of Guangxi's sugarcane industry.

On March 18th, a truck laden with 30 tons of Vietnamese sugarcane rapidly cleared customs at Guangxi Dongzhong Port, taking only 20 minutes for the entire process. The cargo was then swiftly transported to a sugar refinery in Shangsi County, Fangchenggang City, for immediate production. This efficient clearance not only marks the successful opening of a cross-border sugarcane import channel at Dongzhong Port but also adds new vitality to the port's import operations. Guangxi, as a core province for sugarcane production in China, relies on its sugarcane industry as a vital pillar of regional economic development. In recent years, with the deepening of cross-border agricultural cooperation between China and Vietnam, importing Vietnamese sugarcane has become a crucial way to bridge the raw material gap for domestic sugar refineries and ensure the stable development of the industry. Given that sugarcane is perishable and its sugar content can easily diminish, customs clearance efficiency and regulatory services are of paramount importance. Thus, a highly efficient clearance process is critical for preserving cargo quality and maximizing corporate economic benefits. To ensure a smooth import process, Dongzhong Customs proactively offered services and precise coordination upon learning of the enterprise's needs. They immediately convened a special meeting with local commerce departments and relevant sugar refineries to thoroughly understand the enterprise's import plans, cargo characteristics, transportation routes, and time-sensitive requirements. Subsequently, a customized, full-process customs clearance plan was developed. For the specific nature of sugarcane, the customs established a 'green channel,' implementing a streamlined regulatory model featuring 'advance declaration, priority inspection, inspection upon arrival, and rapid release.' This optimized the entire customs clearance chain. Furthermore, the customs provided pre-clearance policy briefings and declaration guidance, assigning dedicated personnel for 'one-on-one' assistance to help enterprises familiarize themselves with customs regulatory requirements and standardized declaration procedures. These measures ensured 'zero errors' in cargo declaration and 'zero delays' in clearance, maximizing the freshness and sugar content of the sugarcane. Chen Jianchao, Deputy Director of Dongzhong Customs, stated that the customs will consistently adhere to a people-centered development philosophy, integrating sound performance principles throughout all aspects of customs supervision and services. By providing precise and efficient services, they aim to empower the upgrading of China-Vietnam cross-border economic and trade cooperation, injecting strong momentum into the high-quality development of the border region's economy. Moving forward, Dongzhong Customs will continue to leverage its port functions, strengthen synergistic collaboration with local governments and border inspection departments, continuously optimize the regulatory model for sugarcane import clearance, and institutionalize facilitating measures like the 'green channel' to ensure rapid clearance of imported sugarcane and assist enterprises in building stable and controllable cross-border industrial supply chains.
