According to the latest data, China's imports of syrup and white sugar premix demonstrated robust growth in March 2026. The total import volume for products under tariff codes 1702.90 and 2106.906 reached 123,000 metric tons for the month, marking a significant increase of 38,100 metric tons compared to the same period last year. A more detailed breakdown reveals that imports of syrup and white sugar premix under tariff code 1702.90 surged to 108,300 metric tons in March, an impressive year-on-year increase of 68,300 metric tons. Conversely, imports under tariff code 2106.906 stood at 14,700 metric tons, experiencing a year-on-year decrease of 30,300 metric tons, indicating a shift in the composition of imported products under different tariff classifications. Looking at the broader period, from January to March 2026, China's cumulative imports of syrup and white sugar premix (including tariff codes 1702.90 and 2106.906) totaled 265,200 metric tons, an increase of 72,100 metric tons year-on-year. Despite these monthly and quarterly increases, the overall import situation for the 2025/26 crushing season (October to March) presents a different picture. During this period, China's total imports of syrup and white sugar premix amounted to 564,900 metric tons, which is a decrease of 267,300 metric tons, or 32%, compared to the same period in the previous crushing season. This suggests that while recent import volumes have rebounded, the market demand or supply structure for the entire crushing season is undergoing some adjustments.
