Colombo Agroindústria Kicks Off 2026/27 Harvest Season with 11 Million Ton Sugarcane Projection

Colombo Agroindústria has officially commenced its 2026/27 harvest season, setting an ambitious target to process 11 million tons of sugarcane. The company states that this impressive projection is underpinned by its strong foundation of “operational efficiency, safety, quality, and productivity.” Luís Marcelo Spadotto, CEO of Colombo Agroindústria, remarked, “Projecting a harvest of 11 million tons while simultaneously achieving the best safety indicator in our history demonstrates the maturity of our management and the consistency of our processes.” Mr. Spadotto further emphasized, “This result shows that growth is achievable through operational discipline, efficiency, and, above all, a permanent commitment to the well-being of our people, who are the cornerstone of Colombo’s sustainable performance.” In a recent statement, the sugar-energy company highlighted significant advancements in its workplace safety indicators as one of its key recent achievements. During the 2025/26 harvest season, Colombo recorded a remarkable 59.4% reduction in accidents resulting in time off compared to previous seasons, marking the best result in its history. The company explained, “This improvement is evidenced by the consistent decline in the accident frequency rate, an indicator that correlates the number of occurrences with the total hours worked during the period.” The frequency rate was 6.3 in the 2023/24 season, decreased to 5.62 in 2024/25, and further dropped to 2.19 in the 2025/26 season, achieved over more than 16 million working hours. The company noted that the accident frequency rate is a widely used metric in workplace safety to measure the recurrence of incidents.
