Guangdong's 2025/26 Sugar Production and Sales Data Released: 661,000 Tons Produced, 121,000 Tons in Stock by End of May
Guangdong Province's latest data for the 2025/26 crushing season, as of the end of May 2026, shows a cumulative sugarcane crushing volume of 6.3178 million tons, yielding 660,970 tons of sugar, a slight year-on-year increase. Sales reached 539,900 tons, with inventory at 121,070 tons, resulting in a production-to-sales ratio of 81.68%.
According to the latest statistics released by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the sugar production and sales situation for the 2025/26 crushing season in the province has been clarified as of the end of May 2026. The cumulative sugarcane crushing volume for this season reached 6.3178 million tons, an increase compared to 6.1575 million tons in the same period last year. The total sugar production amounted to 660,970 tons, slightly higher than the 654,500 tons produced in the previous year's corresponding period.
Regarding production efficiency, the average sugar yield rate for the current crushing season was 10.462%, compared to 10.63% in the same period last year. By the end of May, the cumulative sugar sales across the province reached 539,900 tons, with an inventory of 121,070 tons. The overall production-to-sales ratio stood at 81.68%, indicating a healthy market absorption capacity for sugar.
Notably, in May 2026 alone, Guangdong produced 5,270 tons of sugar. Monthly sugar sales reached 109,900 tons, marking a substantial increase of 106,000 tons compared to the same month last year, reflecting a significant surge in market demand. Furthermore, the volume of fruit cane purchased this season was 135,755 tons, with a sugar yield rate of 8.745%, resulting in 11,872 tons of sugar, further diversifying the sugar supply chain.
