Chicken Meat Prices Rise, Production Hits Record High

Brazilian chicken meat prices have been on an upward trend since early June, maintaining strength even in the latter half of the month when demand typically softens. This reflects a gradual demand recovery and adjusted domestic supply. Concurrently, Brazil's chicken production reached a record 3.734 million tons in the first quarter of 2026, the highest for this period since records began in 1997, marking a 6.9% increase year-on-year.

According to the latest report from the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea) at the University of São Paulo, chicken meat prices in Brazil have been on a consistent upward trajectory since the beginning of June 2026. This trend has persisted even into the latter half of June, a period when demand typically tends to weaken. This positive scenario has been observed across all markets monitored by Cepea, primarily reflecting a gradual recovery in demand coupled with a well-adjusted domestic supply. Concurrently, data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) indicates that Brazil's chicken meat production reached a record high in the first quarter of 2026. During this period, the national poultry industry produced a total of 3.734 million tons of chicken meat. This volume represents a 2.2% increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2025 and a significant 6.9% rise from the 3.492 million tons produced in the first quarter of 2025. This marks the highest production level recorded for this specific period since IBGE began tracking data in 1997, underscoring the robust growth within Brazil's poultry sector.
