China Sugar Group Spot Price Dynamics on June 22, 2024

On June 22, 2024, China's sugar market showed regional variations. Guangxi's mainstream spot transaction price for white sugar slightly increased, but overall quoted prices remained stable with some declines, primarily due to slow summer consumption and a hand-to-mouth purchasing strategy. Yunnan's prices generally decreased. Refined sugar prices were stable within their range, with some minor adjustments. Overall market transactions were moderate.

On June 22, 2024, China's white sugar market exhibited complex regional dynamics. On that day, the mainstream spot transaction price for white sugar in Guangxi was 5291 yuan/ton, a slight increase of 10 yuan/ton compared to the previous trading day. However, overall spot quotations showed a trend of stability with some declines. This was primarily influenced by the slow start of summer consumption demand, with traders and downstream end-users generally adopting a hand-to-mouth purchasing strategy, leading to moderate market transaction volumes. Notably, driven by rising futures prices in the late trading session, a few sugar groups made secondary price adjustments, but this did not significantly boost overall transactions. Specifically, the quotation status of major sugar groups in Guangxi was as follows: Guangtang's Grade 1 white sugar quotation remained at 5330~5370 yuan/ton; Nanhua's Grade 1 sugar quotation range was 5280~5320 yuan/ton, unchanged; Dongtang's Grade 1 sugar quotation adjusted to 5320~5380 yuan/ton, a decrease of 10 yuan/ton; Fengtang's Grade 1 sugar quotation was 5350~5380 yuan/ton, also down 10 yuan/ton; Xiangui's Grade 1 sugar quotation ranged between 5260~5370 yuan/ton, also decreasing by 10 yuan/ton. In the Yunnan region, white sugar quotations generally decreased: Nanhua Kunming quoted 5130 yuan/ton, while Xiangyun and Dali both quoted 5090 yuan/ton, all down 10 yuan/ton; Yingmao Kunming quoted 5140 yuan/ton, and Dali quoted 5100 yuan/ton, also decreasing by 10 yuan/ton. Regarding refined sugar, the mainstream market quotation range remained between 5640~5900 yuan/ton, although a few refined sugar enterprises also made minor adjustments, lowering prices by 10~30 yuan/ton.
