CEPEA Cotton: June Exports Poised to Reach New Record
According to analysis from CEPEA (Center for Advanced Studies on Applied Economics), Brazil's cotton exports are maintaining a strong pace despite the off-season, driven by ample lint availability and the need to clear production surpluses. The country has established its capacity to continuously supply the international market throughout the year, a shift from previous patterns, with June exports anticipated to set a new record.
Researchers from CEPEA (Center for Advanced Studies on Applied Economics) at the University of São Paulo highlight that Brazil's cotton exports are maintaining an intense pace, even during the off-season. This sustained momentum is attributed to the ample availability of lint cotton within the country and the ongoing need to clear surplus production.
CEPEA's analysis indicates that over recent crop seasons, Brazil has successfully solidified its capability to continuously supply the international market throughout the year. This marks a significant departure from previous patterns, where shipments were typically concentrated in the second half of the year. As a result, Brazilian exports have demonstrated greater regularity, achieving monthly records even in months traditionally characterized by lower lint availability.
According to data from Secex (Secretariat of Foreign Trade), Brazilian cotton shipments are projected to reach a new record high in June, further underscoring the nation's growing prominence and consistent export strength in the global cotton trade.
