Over 100,000 Ecstasy Pills Seized in Sa Kaeo, Two Pakistanis and One Indian Arrested
Thai police in Sa Kaeo province have arrested two Pakistani nationals and one Indian national after seizing over 101,000 ecstasy pills at a petrol station. All three suspects are accused of illegal entry and jointly selling Class 1 narcotics, and have been handed over for legal proceedings.
Thai authorities in Sa Kaeo province have apprehended three foreign nationals in connection with a significant drug seizure. Two Pakistani men and one Indian man were arrested after police discovered over 101,000 ecstasy pills concealed within their luggage at a local petrol station. Concerns have been raised that these illicit drugs were intended for distribution in Bangkok.
The operation commenced on June 27 when an off-duty immigration officer, while at a petrol station, observed three foreign men with multiple suitcases. Believing they might be tourists requiring assistance, the officer approached them. One of the individuals, 24-year-old Pakistani national Badti Muhammad Aslan, allegedly requested a ride to Bangkok. Upon identifying himself, the officer inspected Aslan's passport and found it lacked a valid Thai entry stamp. Aslan was immediately detained, while the other two men fled the scene during the inspection.
Immigration police, in collaboration with Mueang Sa Kaeo Police Station and the Sa Kaeo Provincial Police Investigation Division, swiftly located the two escapees. They were identified as 19-year-old Pakistani national Ali Liswan and 45-year-old Indian national Pakaran Jit Singh. Investigations confirmed that both individuals had also entered Thailand unlawfully.
Officers conducted a thorough search of five suitcases, uncovering a total of 101,675 ecstasy pills meticulously hidden inside cloth and plastic bags. Despite the significant drug haul, urine tests performed on all three suspects yielded no traces of illegal substances in their systems. The three men now face charges of jointly selling a Category 1 narcotic (ecstasy) without permission for commercial purposes, in addition to charges of illegal entry and unauthorized stay in Thailand. During questioning, the suspects admitted to the immigration offenses but denied any involvement in drug-related activities. They have since been transferred to investigators at Mueang Sa Kaeo Police Station for further legal proceedings.
