FEIJÃO/CEPEA: Producer Margins Improve at the Start of the Year
According to data from CEPEA's (Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics) agricultural cost team, expenses for cultivating black beans (feijão preto) in the southern half of Paraná, Brazil, are slightly lower in early 2026 compared to 2025, estimated at R$ 4,430.00 per hectare. Meanwhile, the costs for cultivating 'carioca' beans (feijão carioca) in the Curitiba region of Paraná remain at similar levels to a year ago, at R$ 5,170.00 per hectare.
CEPEA's calculations for these figures considered the averages for December and January, based on the purchase of all inputs and the sale of all production within the same month. According to CEPEA researchers, the strong price recoveries observed over the past two months have significantly improved producer margins.
