Petrobras Increases Diesel Price by R$0.38 per Liter at Refineries

Petrobras announced on Friday, the 13th, that it will adjust its selling prices for diesel A to distributors by R$0.38 per liter, effective Saturday, the 14th. Considering the mandatory blend of 85% diesel A and 15% biodiesel, the state-owned company estimates that this adjustment is equivalent to an increase of R$0.32 per liter for diesel B sold at gas stations. Following this change, the average price of diesel A charged by Petrobras to distributors will be R$3.65 per liter, while Petrobras’s share in the price of diesel B sold at stations will average R$3.10. “It is important to highlight that Petrobras’s last price adjustment for distributors was a reduction that occurred 311 days ago (on May 6, 2025), and the last increase took place on February 1, 2025, more than 400 days ago,” Petrobras stated in a note. The company further pointed out that, even with this latest increase, the prices of diesel A sold to distributors have registered a cumulative reduction of R$0.84 per liter since December 2022, which represents a 29.6% decrease when considering inflation over the period. “It should be noted that the impact of the announced readjustment on the final consumer is mitigated, as the federal government has zeroed the PIS/Cofins taxes levied on the commercialization of diesel,” the company added. Furthermore, as disclosed in a market announcement, Petrobras’s board of directors has approved the company’s participation in the economic subsidy program.
